Portsmouth - July 2000

Sam, John and I decided we wanted to go to Portsmouth to see Nelson's HMS Victory. On the way down we met two Vice Admirals who are retired and now work for the Queen as attendants during state visits, dinners, etc. One of them, Admiral Priestcook, gave us a recommendation of where to eat. We went there and the staff were a bit stuffy until we told them that Admiral Priestcook recommended them to us. All changed after that and we had a wonderful time. The head waiter even took the time to show us all the regimental ties that Admiral Priestcook wore during his tenure in the Admiralty. It seems that the admirals all donate their ties to this place and they hang them up.
