Tumacácori - February 2012
Tumacácori is a very old Spanish mission dating back to 1691 and is about an hour south of Tucson. Here O’odham, Yaqui, and Apache people met and mingled with European Jesuit and Franciscan missionaries, settlers, and soldiers, sometimes in conflict and sometimes in cooperation. The last time I visited the mission I was in grade school so this was an enjoyable return.
